It’s that time of year again. The time when ghosties and ghoulies come out to play the The Eclective unleashes a little Halloween chaos on the world.

This year we’ve come up with eight spooky(ish) stories filled with tales of beings from the Other Side. A haunted house, a discontented ghost, and supernatural powers…who could ask for more?

FREE today: The Celtic Collection

Today, The Celtic Collection by the Eclective is FREE on Amazon.  WOOHOO!

Why am I excited about this?

Because my Sunwalker Short – Irish Kiss – is part of the collection. So, for those of you who need a dose of Morgan, this one’s for you.

Now I’m off to London to buy a fat pig … er, yeah.

Mythos Monday: Grimm

It’s been awhile since I did a Mythos Monday post. Mostly because I’ve been not just up to my eyeballs, but over my head with edits. Fortunately, though, edits for Kissed by Darkness are done and turned in, ready for Montlake Romance to republish. I didn’t think this book could get any better, but I really think it has.

Kissed by Fire edits will be starting shortly, but in the meantime I’m having a little breather. Between showing a friend around London and a short visit to Paris this week, I’m writing a short story for the Eclective’s next collection (out in June). Not only that, but I actually have a little time to blog. So, I’m talking Grimm.

Writer Wednesday: Zombies and Humor

Let’s face it.  In a zombie apocalypse you’re going to need your sense of humor.  It’s one of the few things that will keep you from going stark raving mad.  That and a lifetime supply of chocolate.  But I digress.

I have with me today a woman who knows very well the power of humor.  Please welcome the ever fabulous PJ Jones!

SM: Hey! It’s PJ Jones, Queen of Parody. Thanks so much for joining me today. You know how I love me some zombies! Even more, I love to Squee myself silly.  Let me start by asking you a few random questions so we can get to know you a little better.
1): What’s your all-time favorite thing to eat?

Chocolate Nachos

PJ: Nachos and chocolate. I still haven’t figured out how to combine the two.

SM: Oh, really?  I got a recipe for you.  Let’s talk …

Fantastical Friday: The Best Laid Plans

As usual, I love to start a Friday with a good video.

I was watching this video on Youtube during breakfast.  I don’t recommend doing that unless you want your screen covered in oatmeal.  Just sayin’.

I really want to vote for the dude in the hat with the glitter.  ‘Cause seriously, who DOESN’T want a free pony?

In other news, PJ Jones has a new book coming out next week: Attack of the Fairytale Zombies.

I started reading this the other night and HOLY CARP it’s hilarious!  If you need a good laugh, be sure and pick up a copy of this book.  Just don’t drink anything while you’re reading it.  Again, you’ve been warned.

David Gaughran is throwing a HUGE St. Patrick’s day sale this weekend.  Loads of fantastic books (Including Dragon Warrior by yours truly) are just 99 cents.  These books are normally $2.99 to $4.99 so talk about a major deal!

Don’t forget, this is the last day you can enter the Celtic Cross T-Shirt Giveaway over at the Eclective.  Tomorrow we announce the lucky winner.  Even better?  The Celtic Collection is absolutely FREE today and tomorrow!

And in other news, Dragon Lord’s release has been slightly delayed.  Instead of the last week of March, it will now be out the first week or so in April.  I’ll keep you posted on the exact release date as soon as I know myself.

In the meantime have a fantastical Friday and I’ll see ya on the flip side!

Fantastical Friday: The Celtic Collection, Giveaways, and the Fabulousness of Equality

I’m super excited to announce that The Eclective’s The Celtic Collection has arrived!  Best of all it involves a short story (Okay, a long short story) about our intrepid vampire hunter’s latest exploits.

That’s right, Morgan Bailey is on the hunt for a missing pot of

gold.  And come hell or high water she will get her man.  Woman.  Mer-person.  Uh.  Well.  You know what I mean.

Of course we can’t leave well enough alone so we had to do a giveaway to celebrate.  We’re giving away this super cool Celtic Cross t-shirt.  You can find out more about the contest and how to enter HERE.

Now onward to more FANTASTICAL GOODNESS!

Jack Wallen takes a look today at the fabulousness that is equality.

Tara West gives us a sneak peek at her upcoming fantasy novel, Curse of the Ice Dragon.  Ya’ll know how I feel about dragons. ;-)

Gene Lempp talks Templars and Klingons over on his blog.

And the Purple Foodie shares her take on Eating In Rome.  As far as I’m concerned, anything involving Rome and food is a must-read.

Since it’s been awhile since I posted anything Supernatural, so I shall leave you with this clip of Sam and Dean (with a little help from Castiel) doing The Safety Dance:

Have a fantastic weekend folks!  See ya on the flip side …

Fantastical Friday: Norsk Coffee, Captain Jack, and Books That Don’t Suck

Can you believe it’s Friday again?  I hope it’s been a great week for everyone and you’ve
Me?  I’m off today on a grand adventure in Cardiff.  It’s sort of a pre-birthday trip.  I’m kind of hoping we’ll bump into Captain Jack so we can invite him to tea (for those not in the know, much of Torchwood is filmed in Cardiff).got something special planned for the weekend.

If you ever happen to be down Cardiff way, there’s a great little “Norsk” coffee shop in the old Norwegian church there.  With fantastic views of the water front and baked goods to die for, it’s worth the walk down from town.  Can’t wait to have a relaxing cuppa and maybe a nice scone to go with it.  YUMMY!

Hopefully I’ll come back with some interesting stories to share.  After all, Wales is one of the possible locations for King Arthur and Camelot!  So, you never know what interesting things I might learn.

While I’m gone, don’t forget The Eclective’s Kindle Fire Giveaway is still going on.  Be sure to enter for your chance to win a Kindle Fire!  We’ll be announcing the winners on Valentine’s Day.

Also, if you’re looking for some good books to read, but aren’t sure what to try next, head on over to the weekly Books That Don’t Suck.  Every Monday there will be a review of a new non-sucky book.  YAY!

Well, I’m off.  Have a great weekend and I’ll see ya on the flip side!

Fantastical Friday: Kindle Fire Giveaway!

It’s Friday once again, and can you think of any better way to end the week than with a giveaway?

I sure can’t!

The Eclective (of which yours truly is a member) is giving away one Kindle Fire for Valentine’s Day.  Heck of a lot better than a box of chocolates and a dozen roses, don’t you think?

Okay, maybe not better than the chocolates, but it’ll last longer.

There are lots of ways to enter, so hop over to our page and check it out!

And just for legal mumbo jumbo, this thing has nothing to do with Amazon or it’s affiliates.  We are not being compensated. The winner will be chosen at random. Blah blah blah.  Etc., etc.

Mythos Monday: Kobo and the Fairy Queen

I’m really thrilled to let you all know that Dragon Warrior is now available on Kobo!  No word yet on when Kissed by Darkness and Kissed by Fire will be available there, but I’m sure it will be soon.  I’ll definitely let you know as soon as it happens.

This is so exciting because I know that the Kobo ereader is proving hugely popular and is also, supposedly, one of the better ereaders on the market right now.  Also, I really want to make sure all of my lovely readers are able to read my books in whatever electronic format suits them.  Wahoo!

Now, as you know, Kissed by Smoke, is going to be out soon.  So, I thought today’s post should be about one of the supernatural races who make an appearance in this book, in fact, they’re going to be a bit part of the rest of the series.  Who are they?

The sidhe.

Yeah, yeah.  I see you staring at me blankly.  Sidhe (SHEE) isn’t exactly a term you hear thrown around much.

The sidhe are, basically, fairies.  But not those flitty little Disney things that look cute.  No, not at all.  The sidhe are powerful, magical beings who have, throughout the centuries, been worshiped as gods.  They live in an alternate reality, able to pass quite easily between their world and ours.  To attract a sidhe means trouble.  To anger a sidhe is a death sentence.

My sidhe are a little different than the traditional sidhe of myth and legend.  You know me, I gotta mix things up a bit!

The sidhe of Morgan Bailey’s world do not have a single face.  Their faces are constantly changing, molding and shaping new features every few seconds.  Of course their glamour is so strong this is not something a normal human can see, but Morgan is not exactly a normal human so she can see this shift.  It’s how she can tell when a sidhe’s in the room and it’s how she knows to lay low.

Unfortunately, the Fairy Queen has decided to take an interest in Morgan …

My all time favorite fairy story has got to be A Midsummer Night’s Dream by the Bard himself.

If we shadows have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended,
That you have but slumbered here
While these visions did appear.

What’s your favorite tale of the fae?

Also, don’t forget to stop by Friday’s post and leave a comment for your chance to win a copy of Jack Wallen’s Die Zombie Die.
