Morgan Visits Paris

Earlier this month I hopped on the Eurostar and spent a few days roaming the streets of Paris. All in the name of “research” naturally. The things I do for you …

The truth is that in the fourth book of the Sunwalker Saga (Yet to be written, so don’t get too excited.) Morgan will be heading to Paris (among other places). There will be more mystery, mayhem, and madness. There will be sidhe and Templars and goodness knows what else.

In fact I only know two things at this point. The title will be Kissed by Moonlight and the cover looks a little something like this:

But of course first I must finish the edits for Montlake on Kissed by Fire. But while I do that, why don’t you sit down with a croissant and an espresso and enjoy Morgan’s Paris.

Mythos Monday: Grimm

It’s been awhile since I did a Mythos Monday post. Mostly because I’ve been not just up to my eyeballs, but over my head with edits. Fortunately, though, edits for Kissed by Darkness are done and turned in, ready for Montlake Romance to republish. I didn’t think this book could get any better, but I really think it has.

Grimm

Kissed by Fire edits will be starting shortly, but in the meantime I’m having a little breather. Between showing a friend around London and a short visit to Paris this week, I’m writing a short story for the Eclective’s next collection (out in June). Not only that, but I actually have a little time to blog. So, I’m talking Grimm.

Mythos Monday: Goddess of Love and Cupcakes

Before we get stuck into today’s post, why don’t you hop on over to The Eclective blog for a super smexy video review of Books That Don’t Suck.

And now, onto the mythos.

My trip to Tenby, Wales continues to inspire me.  Despite being eyeball deep in edits for Kissed by Darkness (Pretty sure my Montlake editor – bless her socks – is half demon and half genius), I’m working on a short story which will be in The Eclective’s latest anthology due out in June.  And who should make an appearance in said short story, but the fabulous Welsh goddess of love herself, Branwen!

Mythos Monday: Dylan Thomas Drank Here

Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, as the case may be) I did not run into a single Cwn Annwn while in Wales.  I tried, I really did, but they were fresh out in Tenby.  Nor did I run into any Afanc (though granted I wasn’t near a lake so it wasn’t exactly Afanc territory), Water Leapers (giant frogs with bat’s wings), or Gwyllion (ghosts/night wanderers) – unless you count the human variety night Gwyll.  Saw a few of those.  I think they call them “teenagers.”

Mythos Monday: Hounds of Hell

I’m off to the Welsh coast tomorrow for a long deserved bit of R & R.  I just need to wash the little gray cells out with some good, fresh, salt air.

Naturally, with Wales on the brain, I thought I’d dredge up some Welsh zombie myths (what with it being zombie month and all), but nary a one was to be found.  I did, however, find the myth of the hellhound.

Fantastical Friday: Weird Al, Zombies, and Lady Gaga

Happy Friday everyone.  Hope you all have some fantastical plans for the weekend.

I love me some Lady Gaga.  And I love me some Weird Al.  I thought I’d start the weekend celebrations off right with a little bit of both:

Since this month is Zombie Month, I thought I’d also 5 Scientific Reasons a Zombie Apocalypse Could Actually Happen (from cracked.com).  I suddenly find myself rather concerned about brain parasites.  Ew.

Also, author Robyn Porter has a new book out and it looks amazing!  Can’t wait to sink my teeth into it.

Keepers of Water:

A promise to save her brother’s soul unearths a conspiracy she was not prepared for…

Arieana’s brother has been murdered by her own people in a world not their own. Forced into breaking ancient law, she ventures into the human realm in search of her brother’s soul. Once she steps through the Veil, she realizes the renegades are up to more than just punishing a few humans. They want to destroy the race itself.

Forced to forge an unlikely alliance with the very race responsible for the storms tearing her world apart, she finds out more of her past than the elders want. With the war started, each clue they uncover leads them closer to the first of the elemental relics, and a chance to save mankind.

Together they must work side by side to stop the renegades…

Before time runs out for both worlds.

Sounds good, doesn’t it?  Scroll down for an excerpt and linkies.

In the meantime, I’m off to get my copy.  Have a fantastical weekend and I’ll see ya on the flip side!

Excerpt from Keepers of Water:

Rydan took a deep breath and sighed. The dry air of the desert felt good in his lungs. He had missed this place. Scanning the area, he found familiar buildings and colors in front of him. The human world was so different from his home back in Baile, from the dry mounds of sand and scarce vegetation to the simplistic life the people led. Nothing about this place drew even an ounce of similarity to the world he had left behind.

“Mama, where are you?”

He stilled at the sound of a child. He turned to seek her out her out and saw a little brown head bopping about one of the walkways. Kneeling down at the edge of the rooftop, he readied himself to take out anyone that might jump from the shadows and attack.

“Jesmine, come inside right now.” A tall woman reached out of a door and grabbed the child’s hand. “What have I told you about going outside at night?”

The door shut behind them. Rydan breathed a sigh of relief. The child was inside and safe. One less person he had to worry about. Now that just left the rest of the town.

He still had one question at the back of his mind. What had led them here? Was it their own research, or did they know he had a history here? He found it hard to believe it had to do with him but that didn’t quell his fears. His secret was here. Could they have found what he had tried to keep hidden for the last eight years?

“No!” A loud piercing scream rose from the east. Rydan turned to the incoming breeze; the scent of death was heavy in the air as was Ricor’s wound.

“Damn it.” He swore under his breath.

“Help me!” Fear laced the woman’s words.

Rydan breathed in and clenched his fists tightly. “Enough is enough,” he whispered. “Not tonight, not again.”  He gripped the handle of his sword as he stood up. He bolted into the night and saw a flash of the desert landscape and a memory of his sister’s flickered through his mind.

It’s amazing, Rydan. The desert spans further than you can ever believe. It’s so beautiful, but just as deadly. Water is nearly non-existent but there is something, a pull that calls out to me. I can’t explain it, but it’s there. But you must be weary of the sands; they are full of death and blood. Do not allow yours to be spilled there, for the earth will absorb it too quickly and you will be lost to me. The story had fascinated him, but looking around he wondered, and not for the first time, how much she really saw.

“No…Stop it! Get away from me!” The scream punched deep into his heart. Without pausing to think, he raced forward. He could sense something was different about this night, the tension felt thicker the closer he got, but he couldn’t stop. The woman had sounded terrified and he felt compelled to help. Rydan rounded a corner at full speed and came face to face with a dark mist slowly descending over the town.

Don’t go there. It’s not safe.

Fantastical Friday: The Celtic Collection, Giveaways, and the Fabulousness of Equality

I’m super excited to announce that The Eclective’s The Celtic Collection has arrived!  Best of all it involves a short story (Okay, a long short story) about our intrepid vampire hunter’s latest exploits.

That’s right, Morgan Bailey is on the hunt for a missing pot of

gold.  And come hell or high water she will get her man.  Woman.  Mer-person.  Uh.  Well.  You know what I mean.

Of course we can’t leave well enough alone so we had to do a giveaway to celebrate.  We’re giving away this super cool Celtic Cross t-shirt.  You can find out more about the contest and how to enter HERE.

Now onward to more FANTASTICAL GOODNESS!

Jack Wallen takes a look today at the fabulousness that is equality.

Tara West gives us a sneak peek at her upcoming fantasy novel, Curse of the Ice Dragon.  Ya’ll know how I feel about dragons. ;-)

Gene Lempp talks Templars and Klingons over on his blog.

And the Purple Foodie shares her take on Eating In Rome.  As far as I’m concerned, anything involving Rome and food is a must-read.

Since it’s been awhile since I posted anything Supernatural, so I shall leave you with this clip of Sam and Dean (with a little help from Castiel) doing The Safety Dance:

Have a fantastic weekend folks!  See ya on the flip side …
